What is the RCIFA?The Raytown Community Inter-faith Alliance is a collection of clergy and lay representatives from faith communities in the area surrounding Raytown, Missouri. We join with representatives of local community and service agencies for the synergistic experience of coming together for the sake of unity and common edification of God's people. The RCIFA sponsors a community Thanksgiving service in the fall, a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration service in January, the Raytown Mayor's Prayer Breakfast in April, and a unity picnic in the summer.
In the context of recent public discourse surrounding the anniversary of September 11th, the Alliance adopted the following statement at the September 9th, 2010 meeting of the Raytown Community InterFaith Alliance (RCIFA).
Statement: As we observe another anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, communities of faith in Raytown pause to remember all of those who lost their lives on that day. As people of faith, we grieve how at times religion can be perverted to support acts of violence. We also grieve recent actions and statements which show grave disrespect to faithful Muslims and caricature both Islam and Christianity. We pray that people of faith in our own community, across our nation, and across the globe can join hands to further peace and reconciliation.
